Design and customization

Send a sketch, a photo of a pose you like, or just overall height and how many giraffes you want. We return a dimensioned drawing for approval before tooling starts. Size drives cost more than anything else: a 2 m calf is a different build from a 4.5 m adult, because the steel armature and the number of mold sections go up with height. Detail level matters too. A smooth stylized body is faster to produce than carved fur texture, eyelashes, and separate ossicones. Tell us the viewing distance. A piece seen from 20 m at a park entrance does not need the same surface detail as one in a hotel lobby where people walk right up to it.

Build and materials

The shell is marine-grade unsaturated polyester resin with chopped strand mat and woven roving, laid up over a welded steel internal armature. Stainless hardware is used at all connection points. The gelcoat is UV-stable, which matters for pieces that sit in direct sun. Outdoor service life is 10 to 30+ years depending on climate and care, with a repaint or re-coat cycle of 5 to 7 years outdoors. Large pieces are built in sections that bolt together on site, so the armature design and the split lines are planned at the drawing stage, not after molding.

Finishes and color

We match any Pantone shade at 98% accuracy, then seal it with an automotive-grade polyurethane topcoat in gloss or matte. The solid-color look on this family group is straightforward to hold consistent across pieces, which is harder with airbrushed patterns. If you want a more natural coat pattern, we can do that too, but expect more finishing hours and a higher piece price. Finish choice also affects maintenance: gloss hides less dirt, matte shows fewer scratches. We can send color chips for sign-off before topcoat.

Mold cost for a typical single-piece sculpture runs USD 1,200 to 1,500. Production is 3 to 6 weeks for standard pieces and 12 to 16 weeks for oversized or multi-piece installations. Sea freight door-to-door DDP to the USA takes 5 to 9 weeks and costs about 80% less than air; air freight is 7 to 10 days. Payment is 30% deposit, balance before shipment.
